Scenario:

A Hong-Kong based company would like to branch out its audience and appeal by creating a marketing campaign to produce awareness for a worthwhile charity it hopes to run alongside for the foreseeable future. Your job is to build a marketing campaign for a promotional video you shall create for a charity of your choice.

Task 1:

Originate - Research - Develop idea for a Media Product

Task 1:  

Generate the idea for your campaign and Promotional Video. Show evidence of research into audience, similar products and ideas, ​institutional context and constraints.

 

EVIDENCE: Mood boards, brainstorms, desk research, notes on institutional constraints, audience research

  • Identify the target audience they would like to address

  • Identify the range of resources and materials available to them (audit)

  • Identify the skills they have in relation to their choice of production techniques

  • Mind map a number of appropriate ideas

  • Identify the production management requirements for each idea

  • Decide which idea might be appropriate

  • Undertake research into appropriate content based on the target audience

  • Undertake research into appropriate production techniques

  • Identify potential constraints on production

  • Identify ways to address constraints.

Task 2:

Produce and Deliver a Pitch for your Idea

Task 2:  

The medium is up to you - it can be done as a presentation, a video, a document or a mix of these- but it must address content, audience, requirements of your project, and a poster campaign highlighting your chosen charity. You WILL need to actually present the pitch and be able to answer questions.

 

EVIDENCE: Pitch – both performance and artifact.

  • Finalise ideas for their media product

  • Prepare a proposal

  • Prepare a presentation including delegate notes and presenter’s notes

  • Give the presentation in the form of a pitch to the tutor and peers

  • Refine ideas as a result of the pitch, where appropriate.

  • Poster Campaign

Task 3:

Create the Product

Task 3:  

Create the product. You will be assessed on ALL aspects of it: the pre-production, the production and, most importantly, how you manage the process.

 

EVIDENCE: Pre-Production and final Project

  • Determine production roles (if employing a team or working in a group*)

  • Complete pre-production process

  • Complete production process

  • Complete post-production process

  • Show rough cut or draft product to focus group (and client if there is one)

  • Make changes to finished product, where necessary.
