Aim and Purpose of this unit is to give learners the knowledge and skills needed to produce, control and manipulate digital graphics used for a range of print and Photogrpahic concepts
Idlewild-Juno is a competitive post production Print House in search for new and exciting talent within the Creative Arts sector. To coincide with the release of your upcoming Film Festival, Idlewild-Juno are looking to advertise the talent they have on offer. In order to do this, you have been tasked to produce a series of creatively surreal photographs centred on the subject of Hong Kong within the digital graphics sector. The Festival organisers are expecting 3 A3 posters, 3 Promotional Postcards, a Main Production company logo and a short written intro to your visual style and concept.






Task 1
Investigation:
Task 1 – U54
Investigation: You will be given lessons in class which will focus on the understanding various file formats and applications. You shall be looking into various common file formats such as vectors, metafiles and file extensions. Students will also learn about various raster and vector based applications and how they are used in different media forms such as print and moving image.
You shall then prepare a creative Infographic discussing the various file formats and how they are used effectively within various media forms provided.
Task 1 – U5
You will look into various research methods that will discuss, describe and explain the various types of Briefs that are on offer to a client. Your research will consist of comprehensively explaining the requirements expected by a company in order to successfully meet the necessary demands.
It will be beneficial to research various aspects of regulations surrounding briefs as well as well as discussing the various problems that may arise during the negotiation stages. Constraints such as legal, regulatory and ethical issues are continually taken into account with an ever increasing saturation of media consumption. Being able to identify opportunities for self-development and new possible skills that may present themselves on whilst visually demonstrating your ideas with elucidated examples throughout.

Task 2 – U54
Skills Development: You will be given various lessons on appropriate digital design programs, exploring the workspace and work area. You will have to time to practice with various design ideas exploring an array of tools and features that will aid you in your final designs. Designers will require excellent skills in the manipulation of various productions taking into account layers, cloning, adjustments, resolutions and professional cutting techniques. It is very important to have excellent photographic awareness and skill when coming up with your ideas
You will continually develop and produce a portfolio of work that showcases your development of skills in using image design and manipulation software
Task 2 – U5
In order to develop your own ideas, you will need to comprehensively identify what type of brief it is before deconstructing what it is asking of you as an individual client. How are you able to then impose your own thoughts and ideas into the response, taking in to account any regulatory and ethical issues that may arise.

Design and Produce Digital Graphics: You will design and produce a series of digital graphics specified in the brief given. 3 A3 Posters, 3 Promotional Postcards, a Production Company Logo and short written brief of your ideas and intended style. It is important you use a variation of file formats and produce your designs with a professional level of creativity and flair.
You are to produce a finished portfolio to coincide with the upcoming release of Film Festival.

Review:
You should deliver your designs to an appropriate audience, evaluating the various designs and creative ideas ideas you have embarked upon for the Festival release. It is important to gage whether your ideas have engaged your chosen audience. Once you have gathered responses, you will then produce a short sound bite (5mins) evaluating/reviewing your own designs and how you feel it meets the required criteria set.
You will need to assess how well your product meets the required brief and invite feedback from your tutor and peers. You will then reflect constructively on the comments. What did and didn’t go well in your production process? And what would you do differently next time? Discussion of problems you faced and any technical issues that arose would be beneficial to your development, reflecting on various other methods that could have possibly been explored in order to achieve a better outcome.
Remember, you must include critical response provided and provide your own opinion as to the validity within your soundbite
