Working to A Brief

Assignment Title:  Moving Film Production Logos

Scenario:

 

With your upcoming film about to enter it's production stages, the executive producers have asked as part of their press release for the film to add a moving digital company logo to your final film in post production.  This is an extremely important task that defines you and your company and in most circumstances will be the first point of contact with your audience.  It is important to develop your idea to professional standards incorporating moving text, creativity and flair where possible.

Task 1

You will look into various research methods that will discuss, describe and explain the various types of Briefs that are on offer to a client.  Your research will consist of comprehensively explaining the requirements expected by a company in order to successfully meet the necessary demands.  It will be beneficial to research various aspects of regulations surrounding briefs as well as well as discussing the various problems that may arise during the negotiation stages.  Constraints such as legal, regulatory and ethical issues are continually taken into account with an ever increasing saturation of media consumption. Being able to identify opportunities for self-development and new possible skills that may present themselves on whilst visually demonstrating your ideas with elucidated examples throughout.

 

As your client is looking for new and upcoming artists it will be a requirement for you to demonstrate your understanding of motion graphics and video compositioning to gain their trust in your abilities as a professional, you will have to provide elucidated examples to support your ideas.

 

You will discuss several examples spanning motion graphics creation up until its current everyday use, looking at such technical aspects like frame rates, graphics, formats, resolutions and compression not to mention its overall use within the Film and media industry itself.

 

You will then provide a very rough outline to how you would like to use motion graphics to develop your own ideas with a brief description of some designs you wish to explore and develop in task 2. You will need to present your information in a presentation format of your choice with additional notes and development findings attached.

Task 2

In order to develop your own ideas, you will need to comprehensively identify what type of brief it is before deconstructing what it is asking of you as an individual client. How are you able to then impose your own thoughts and ideas into the response, taking in to account any regulatory and ethical issues that may arise.

 

You will develop your ideas and thoroughly by planning out your intentions to create a company moving image logo/brand. You will demonstrate your development of ideas from scratch and discuss how you are going to achieve you ultimate aim using subject terminology and relevant programs. Your ideas should show creativity and flair. Your planning and preparation will be meticulous paying particular attention to Preparation of storyboards, production schedules, designs, Health and Safety issues, Relevant Legislations, Roles and Working Practices.

NOTE: Already played with some AE - Time to have fun with Green Screen and SMA

Task 3

You will create your final product to near professional standards. No longer than 25 secs in length using a production tool for creation of your choice.  You will provide evidence of your production process throughout ALL relevant stages of Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production. All information must be added to your websites.  Add your final product to your films.

Task 4

You will discuss how effective your product is and how you feel the production process went.  You will need to assess how well your product meets the required brief and invite feedback from your tutor and peers. You will then reflect constructively on the comments.  What did and didn’t go well in your production process? And what would you do differently next time? Discussion of problems you faced and any technical issues that arose would be beneficial to your development, reflecting on various other methods that could have possibly been explored in order to achieve a better outcome.
